Orlandina Balan grew up in a household where being active and healthy eating habits were strongly encouraged.  As such fitness and nutrition became an integral part of her life. At the age of 21 she joined the gym at her father’s suggestion. At first, she only took cardio classes. After a while she started weight training with her father and then decided to work with a personal trainer.  From that point on, going to the gym become more than a routine, it became her way of life.In 2011 the purpose of the gym changed.  It was a huge turning point in her life, she and her husband of 7 years decided to file for divorce.  They wanted different things in life and saw a different future for themselves. Though it was an amicable divorce, it was still a difficult decision.

The gym initially served as a place to help her escape the sadness she felt but, after some time it became the place and time that she could set aside to reflect on her life. Unbeknownst to her, she had begun her journey to becoming a Fitter Woman.  It was a journey filled with filled with anxiety, uncertainties and unknowns but also filled with hope; and it was one she had to take alone.

Shortly after winning her IFBB Pro Card in Women’s Physique, Orlandina decided to establish, The Fitter Woman, Inc. in 2014. She was inspired by the women (and men) that she met along her journey to becoming an athlete and on her way to discovering her true self.    She initially wanted to become a personal trainer but the universe/God had a bigger vision for her. Orlandina eventually found through her own experiences that true wellness meant to be well in every aspect of oneself. Being physically fit was just one part of the wellness/wholeness equation.  One had to make a concerted effort to make time for movement and make time to prepare more home cooked meals (physical health). One also had to set aside time for reflection (mental/emotional health) and set aside some time for some form of regular spiritual practice such as prayer, meditation, etc. (spiritual health)

Since establishing her company Orlandina has interwoven her unique background as 20-year veteran educator and as fitness and health coach to develop holistic wellness program that seeks to educate clients about the importance of finding creative ways to incorporate movement, develop good eating habits and establish regular spiritual practice into their daily lives while connecting to supportive network and/or community of positive like-minded people.

TFW’s mission is to assist its clients in connecting the mind, body and spirit through movement, nutrition, and spiritual wellness. Motivating them towards self-care, self-discovery and self- love.

One of Orlandina’s greatest strengths is her ability to connect with others and to convey her love and passion for health and wellness. She is a motivational speaker who has been invited to present, host and speak at various health and wellness conferences, workshops and events. In addition, she is a spoken word artist who has been showcased at various poetry and arts events and was recently invited to perform her work at the well renowned New York City Poetry Festival.  Orlandina is also self-published author who is currently working on the 3rd edition of her book, Seasons of Her – A Journey of Womanhood as well as compiling her first book of poetry.

Orlandina’s desire is that all whom she serves will see the vast potential that lies within them. Through movement one can motivate the mind, body and spirit to do ANYTHING!

“When I felt secure, I said, I will never be shaken.”  (Psalm 30, verse 6)
