Dr. Tameka Duncan PT, DPT, Cert. MDT is a licensed physical therapist in Clarksville, TN. Dr. Duncan has been in practice since 2010. One of Dr. Duncan’s greatest passions is physical therapy. She is passionate about fostering change through preventative care and rehabilitative services. She takes great pride in helping restore her patient’s quality of life and improving their overall function by helping them return to doing the things they love doing most.
Dr. Duncan obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Howard University in Washington, DC in 2005. Later, she obtained her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the University of Maryland- Baltimore in Baltimore, MD in 2010.
Dr. Duncan has worked in a variety of clinical settings throughout her professional career. She spent eight years practicing in outpatient orthopedics treating a variety of orthopedic conditions. Dr. Duncan also worked in a skilled nursing facility and currently works in home health physical therapy while building her private practice. In 2018, Dr. Duncan started a cash based mobile physical therapy practice, Vitality Sport & Rehab, LLC that services the Clarksville, TN and surrounding areas. Vitality Sport & Rehab, LLC brings physical therapy to you in the comfort of your home or your office. At Vitality Sport & Rehab, Dr. Duncan treats a variety of orthopedic injuries, performs Bodywork sessions, and creates sport performance and preventative injury programs for individuals along the entire lifespan.
Dr. Duncan has received extensive training utilizing various treatment approaches and concepts throughout her career. She received significant training in the treatment of the spine through the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT). Dr. Duncan is recognized as one of the nation’s MDT Certified clinicians. One of Dr. Duncan’s areas of specialty is treatment of the neck and the back. Dr. Duncan also received extensive training in numerous manual therapy techniques to include the Maitland and the Mulligan concepts. Dr. Duncan performs joint mobilizations, mobilization with movement, soft tissue mobilization, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, and myofascial release techniques throughout her practice. Dr. Duncan completed extensive training through the Kinesio Taping Association International for Fundamental Concepts of the Kinesio Taping Method and Advanced Concepts and Corrective Techniques of the Kinesio Taping Method. She also has Level 1 training in Dr. Ma’s Integrative Dry Needling for Pain Management & Sports Rehabilitation.
Dr. Duncan is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) where she is a section member for Orthopedics, Home Health, and Women’s Health. Dr. Duncan stays abreast of the latest research and treatment methods through the various resources provided through the APTA to include monthly publications and various journal articles. Dr. Duncan is also a member of Smart Success Physical Therapy, a PT networking and mentoring group that helps foster professional growth and development as clinicians and evolving private practice owners across the world.
In her spare time, Dr. Duncan enjoys spending time with her family and her friends, salsa dancing, attending church, and mentoring. She loves fitness and nutrition and has competed in several national level physique competitions. Dr. Duncan best describes herself as a down to earth, outgoing, fun loving person that enjoys meeting new people.
