How UJIMA Can Improve Healthcare

Ujima, a principle from the Nguzo Saba (the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa), means “collective work and responsibility.” It emphasizes the idea that community well-being is achieved when individuals work together to solve problems, support each other, and build sustainable futures. Applying the spirit of ujima to healthcare can lead to transformational improvements by shifting the focus from isolated care models to community-centered, collaborative approaches.
